According to sources close to the matter, Raïs M'Bolhi reportedly handled the negotiations for his former teammate Riyad Mahrez. The Algerian striker, captain of the Fennecs, is set to leave Manchester City for Al-Shamal.

M'Bolhi, who has worn Al-Shamal's colors in the past, reportedly used his contacts to facilitate the deal. Mahrez (119 caps, 40 goals) is expected to sign a two-and-a-half-year contract with the Qatari club.

The transfer is not yet official, but discussions are very advanced. Mahrez would leave Europe after eight seasons at Leicester and Manchester City. The deal could be finalized in the coming days.
