The Grand Hassan II Stadium, under construction in Benslimane, was expected to cost around 5 billion dirhams. But according to the latest data, contracts awarded or launched for this project now reach 13.6 billion dirhams, or about 1.24 billion euros.

That is more than 2.7 times the initial budget. This cost overrun is starting to raise eyebrows. The stadium is set to be one of the main venues for the 2030 World Cup, with a planned capacity of 115,000 seats.

Moroccan authorities have not yet commented on these figures. But observers are questioning the financing and whether the construction schedule will be respected.
