The African Football Confederation (CAF) has finally found the successor to Véron Mosengo-Omba. The post had been vacant since last March.

The body led by Patrice Motsepe has chosen a new permanent secretary-general. This appointment puts an end to an interim period that began in March.

This is a historic appointment for an African country. The new secretary-general will take up his duties immediately.
