The Confederation of African Football (CAF) has announced the ten nominees for the 2026 African Player of the Year award. A selection that mixes established players and young talents, but whose choices raise questions.
Among the candidates, there are three Moroccan players and three Senegalese. However, there is no trace of Ibrahim Maza or Yan Diomandé, two promising prospects. Their absences surprise observers.
Three names in particular are sparking debate in this list. CAF has not yet communicated the precise selection criteria. Voting is open until the ceremony scheduled for December.
